History of the Southern Belle building
Originally built for the Southern Bell Phone Company in 1942, they employed many women, who at that time were not taught any employable skills in school. The Southern Bell Phone company gave many of these woman jobs right out of high school and taught them the skills they needed to be telephone operators or clerks.
